Boetfort castle and grounds has been purchased by the Van der Zijpen family, which also operates the Thermae Grimbergen thermal centre.
Work to conserve and redevelop both the main building and the outbuildings which make up this splendid historic property is still in full swing, and will preserve it from any further deterioration.

In conjunction with various institutions and individuals, including the architect Marc Borremans, the landscape architect An Voets, the Steenokkerzeel municipal authorities, the Ter Ham Local History Society, the Monuments and Sites Commission, the Flemish Nature and Forest Agency and the monument preservation trust “Monumentenwacht Vlaanderen”, much has already been done. The different buildings have been restored in line with the relevant standards, and everything is now being immaculately fitted out to create the ideal wellness centre.

The spacious car park has been renovated, with various plant borders being created to retain the green character of the setting.

The castle itself is being fully adapted to make it fit for hospitality and catering purposes and to ensure a high aesthetic standard. The thermal baths will be located in the outbuildings. Seven guestrooms will also be created, where visitors can stay and enjoy a fine view over this unique and idyllic location.

As at Grimbergen, the thermal baths will consist of two beautiful thermal complexes: one accessible with swimming costumes, and one without swimming costumes. The extensive facilities have been designed and fitted in the light of the latest techniques and so as to offer our customers maximum comfort and convenience. The heating, ventilation and hot water production systems will all be eco-friendly, with the latest technology and the know-how that we have accumulated being used to reduce energy loss to the absolute minimum.

We will be ready to open up and introduce you to this extraordinary site in spring 2010. We will give you progress updates and let you know the exact opening date in due course.
